The Best Restaurants in Salzburg's Old Town

Getreidegasse, Linzergasse & surrounding streets

Salzburg's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the lively heart of the city's dining. Around Getreidegasse and Linzergasse you'll find restaurants that offer a real moment to tourists and locals alike. I only list restaurants whose address is genuinely in the Old Town.

15
venues in this selection

For food in Salzburg’s Old Town, my picks include Casa Napoli for pizza, Metzgersteig and Herzl for Austrian cooking, Ludwig and Fifty 4 for burgers, and LEKA or Salzburger Grill Imbiss for a quick bite. The guide also covers cafés and wine bars.

Austrian classics in the Old Town

For traditional Austrian dishes, my picks include Metzgersteig am Alten Markt and Restaurant Herzl. The venue profiles highlight pork knuckle at Metzgersteig and veal Wiener schnitzel at Herzl. For a quicker bite, try a Bosna at Salzburger Grill Imbiss or a creative Leberkäse roll at LEKA on Getreidegasse.

Pizza, burgers and flavours from further afield

Casa Napoli on Bergstraße is a pick for Neapolitan pizza, with Pizza Bufala highlighted in my guide. Ludwig Burger and Fifty 4 Burgers are both on Linzergasse. For something different, Iberico serves tapas, while DAI PAI brings Asian street-food flavours close to the Festival Hall.

Pasta, tapas and a glass of wine

Die geheime Specerey on Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse brings together fresh pasta, meat specialities and wine. Iberico on Chiemseegasse is an option for sharing tapas, while Coquette Weinbar on Bergstraße offers wine and antipasti in an intimate setting.

Breakfast, coffee, matcha and gelato

The Old Town is worth visiting throughout the day. FYN serves breakfast and brunch, KAVA focuses on specialty coffee, DOMODOMO offers matcha and desserts, and ALPZ at Platzl makes gelato. That is why this guide covers more than restaurants alone.
