Honest Conclusion
„For me, MIZU NO YAMA might even be the best Japanese restaurant in Austria. What Kentaro Fujita puts on the plate here in Mondsee has little to do with a classic sushi restaurant: premium produce, Japanese craftsmanship and incredible precision. I particularly like that you can decide for yourself how you want to experience MIZU NO YAMA — relaxed and uncomplicated in the izakaya bistro, or as a very special culinary experience in the fine-dining restaurant and at the chef's table. If you love truly good Japanese cuisine, this is an address you should have tried at least once, in my opinion. For me, definitely one of the culinary highlights at Mondsee."

About Mizu no Yama
In the heart of Mondsee, MIZU NO YAMA brings a piece of Japan to the Salzkammergut. Chef Kentaro Fujita, who grew up in Fukuoka on the Japanese island of Kyushu and trained at renowned omakase restaurants in Japan, combines traditional Japanese culinary art with high-quality produce and a deep attention to detail. The special concept: under one roof there are two different ways to experience Japanese cuisine. In the izakaya bistro the mood is relaxed and convivial — small dishes are placed in the centre of the table and shared, from sushi and sashimi to tempura and warm and cold Japanese specialities, accompanied by sake, a glass of wine or simply a relaxed evening with friends. Those who prefer something more exclusive choose the fine-dining restaurant, where precision, product quality and Japanese craftsmanship take centre stage. Particularly exciting is the chef's table, where you get up close to Kentaro Fujita and his team at work. The ambience matches the concept — modern, reduced and elegant without feeling cold. At the back, a quiet garden terrace awaits — perfect for a relaxed summer evening right in Mondsee.

🍽️ My Favourite Dish
Katsu Sando
"My personal favourite is the Katsu Sando with A5 Wagyu. The incredibly tender and juicy Wagyu meets a crispy coating and soft bread — essentially a simple Japanese comfort food, but here on a completely different level. The A5 Wagyu in particular makes the Katsu Sando something special for me. One of those dishes I would order again immediately on my next visit."
