What makes this market special
Instead of a single square, the Advent spreads across Marktplatz, Weyerbucht and the lakeside promenade, with a lantern trail that leads from the bay over the Schlossbergweg back to the market.
On 20 December Mary and Joseph walk with shepherds and live animals from the Bajuwarengehöft to the market from 15:30, followed by a charity event at 17:30. Pick a weekend for your visit: the market is closed on weekdays.
On the weekends from 28 November to 20 December 2026, Saturdays and Sundays 15:00–19:00.
The market spreads across Marktplatz, Weyerbucht and the lakeside promenade; the inns take part too.
Opening on Saturday 5 December from 16:15 with the Mattsee brass players; St Nicholas arrives at 16:30.
On 20 December the Herbergssuche starts at 15:30 (meeting point Bajuwarengehöft), followed by a charity event at 17:30.
A lantern trail with 40 silhouette lanterns leads from Weyerbucht via Schlossbergweg to the market and stays up until New Year's Eve.
